Our History
When we first started, our family life was good – but scary.
See, I (Travis) jumped into a premade family dynamic. What came with that?
BILLS
My soon-to-be wife, at the time, had a 7-year-old daughter and a mortgage.
So there I was a man in love with these two girls – and the reality of seeing just how I could make the finances work.
Many days were spent pouring over spreadsheets and calculating how each penny could be masterly stretched.
See, I was just getting out of the military and found employment making about 35K…before tax!
I made it work!
A few years rolled by living paycheck-to-paycheck and using tax refunds for vacations –
And then a surprise was put in our life!
A baby was on the way!
Okay – so I breathed in deep! This new welcomed addition to our family will require some additional resources… Money!
Sooo… I knew I had to do something.
We started couponing and I started to weigh my options for new jobs.
I did some research…all the successful folks I wanted to mirror had something in common…
…COLLEGE!
Great!
So with a full-time job and a growing family – I needed to go to school.
To me, the choice was easy as I had the 911 GI Bill that could assist me. Not only that but it offered a little financial incentive to do so.
I knew I didn’t want to go forever so… I took on campus, online and weekend courses.
On top of this – I volunteered (i.e. worked without pay) for one weekend a month, for 2 years, to gain some career experience in a new field.
Results Matter
So what happened you may ask?
Well, I’m proud to say – despite the numerous resume rejections and the tireless nights – Everything turned out for the best!
Our family went from my income being $35K to 50K to $109K in less than a year – and is on the path for more.
Why?
Because of the lessons I learned along the way, the choices I made, and the actions I took.

I’ve done it for myself and close friends and truthfully – assisting others gives me and my family a great feeling of accomplishment.
